This just in – The Beef, Wine & Shenanigans podcast crew is teaming up with the award winning L. Marie Wood and her Speculative Fiction Academy. What does that mean? Well first, BWS co-host Marc Abbott will be teaching a course on horror scriptwriting. On top that that, the Laughing Black Vampire himself, Steven Van Patten will be presenting ‘Wining About Movies’ a movie and storytelling analysis filled with fun facts, off the wall observations and of course laughs.
Marc Abbott’s course, SVP’s ‘Wining About Movies’ and a host of other classes, tools and information will be available exclusively through the academy, which can be found here.

The star of the last section, “Veiled Intentions”, is ‘Suanee’ by Steve Van Patten. After the success of Lovecraft Country it’s no surprise to see Chambers’ mythos being given a racial politics spin, and Van Patten hands in the most unremittingly horrifying tale in the collection. Crucially, Van Patten doesn’t just limit himself to providing a pious depiction of the everyday horrors of racism.

Along with some great horror writers, SVP will be in booth #123 at the Brooklyn Book Fair in Borough Hall just off of Tillary Street this September 17th AND sharing a booth with Marc Abbott and the rest of the Beef, Wine & Shenanigans crew at the Black Book Expo @2031 5th Avenue in Harlem, NY on September 23rd from 10am to 6pm.
There will also be an appearance at Comic-Con, the details of which will be announced very soon, so please stay tuned.
